SANIBEL, Fla. -- Three juvenile bald eagles are being treated at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) for various injuries.

The largest of the three was admitted to the clinic from Cape Coral with a fractured humerus of its left wing on March 30.

The other two eagles were transferred to CROW on May 17 from Owl’s Nest Sanctuary, a wildlife rehabilitation center in Tampa, Florida.  One had a fractured humerus in its left wing which was surgically repaired at the previous facility.  The other was treated at the previous facility for a pelvic injury.

The eagles were transferred due to the need of a large enclosure to practice flight prior to being released.

CROW says that on Thursday, the three eagles were given live prey as a training exercise. The young eagles must show they are capable of hunting on their own before they can be released.

A timetable for release has not yet been determined.
