There's a trail of trash that extends from the dumpster at the Isles of Porto Vista all the way to the forest yards away.

Neighbors say a black bear is responsible for all the garbage. Some have recorded the bear as it rummaged for trash in the dumpster for the past five months.

"It's getting really frustrating. We hate to keep having to clean this up all the time," said Geri Ferrara, who has lived in Cape Coral for the past few years.

Ferrara and her neighbors have turned to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission for help. FWC has worked with Waste Pro about the possibility of a bear-resistant dumpster being added.

"Somebody needs to do something," said Ferrara.

James Amaral has lived in the neighborhood for several years. He's worried about the bear while he walks his small dog.

"A guy got cut across the face in Collier county. It's dangerous," said Amaral. "We need to get something done before someone gets hurt," he added.

FWC says they are monitoring the bear at the Isles of Proto Vista in Cape Coral.
