A man in Naples recently found out that he couldn't trust the man living next door to him. Donald Madera bought a bought a condo in the Cedar Hemlock development in Naples. What he didn't know is that the man living next door, William Ireland, had a key to the condo that the previous owner had given him.

According to Collier County Sheriff's Deputies, Ireland was letting himself into the apartment when he knew that Madera and his family weren't present.

Four In Your Corner asked retired police chief Walter Zalisko for his insight into the situation. He explained that in a state like Florida that has so many travelers, property owners need to take extra precaution to keep themselves and their belongings safe.

"People come down and spend a week in their house and then their not back for eight or nine months", he explained. "It's difficult to become friendly with your neighbors, but it's always a good idea to know who your neighbors are".

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, Madera gave deputies a list of what was stolen. Deputies found the items in a local Capital Pawn shop. The serial numbers on the televisions that were stolen confirmed Ireland was responsible. There was also evidence pointing Ireland to the pawning of the items.

Ireland is currently in custody.
