FORT MYERS -- Hertz, one of the largest companies headquartered in Southwest Florida, has decided to cut business ties with the National Rifle Association, in response to the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that killed 17 people.

Hertz, joins a list of 14 other companies that have ended partnerships with the NRA via Twitter:

"We have notified the NRA that we are ending the NRA's rental car discount program with Hertz."

Local airport travelers tell Fox 4, they agree with the decision.

"The NRA has just gotten too big, too strong,” said Richard Zdeb, a traveler and gun owner. Zdeb believes that the time for gun control is now.

"We should have limited magazines as far as the rifles are concerned. We should eliminate bump stocks completely," he explained. “Get rid of them, get rid of all of them.”

Here is a list of all companies that have cut ties with the NRA:

  1. Met Life
  2. Symantec
  3. Best Western

For traveler and military veteran, Tom Kauffman, he says the decision by Hertz doesn't bother him, but it's important for everyone to respect each other's rights.

“[It's] what we actually go over there and fight and die for. It all has to do with everybody has their personal constitutional rights," said Kauffman.

Kauffman believes their is a mental issue across the nation, but it difficult to decide who's deserves to get a gun and who doesn't.

“Who’s the one to say who has the right to own a gun and purchase a gun? Then you’re starting to touch, you know, a gray area.”

The National Rifle Association released this statement in response to businesses cutting ties:

“Some corporations have decided to punish NRA membership in a shameful display of political and civic cowardice. In time, these brands will be replaced by others who recognize that patriotism and determined commitment to Constitutional freedoms.”
