FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Police Athletic League Boxing Academy is a nonprofit that works with kids across southwest Florida for free to help give them a chance at a brighter future.
Jose Ojeda has been the coach for over 14 years. He's a level 2 USA Boxing Coach and Official, and says many boxers who trained in the program are now professional athletes. Although, others have worked towards different professions.
The team trains five days a week, Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. It's located at 3280 Marion Street in Fort Myers. Ojeda says the team is always looking for sponsors to help fund the program.
