COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A man who went missing while fishing Wednesday night has been found dead in Collier County.

Investigators say they recovered the man's body Thursday afternoon.  He has been identified as 41-year-old Eotimio Barrios of Naples.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Barrios was fishing from a canal bank just north of Tamiami Trail at Port of the Islands just after 8pm.

They say he fell into the turbulent water when he tried to throw a cast net that was tied to his wrist.  The men he was fishing with say he fell in just south of the spillway, which was surrounded by turbulent water from recent rains.

The witnesses say they yelled for him to swim away from the spillway, but Barrios was pulled under while they called 911.

"My friend was swept away in the current, and we need help!" said the caller.

They found the victim in a canal about four miles from where he disappeared.
