Deadly crash on State Road 82 after driver runs stop sign, troopers say

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.-- Florida Highway Patrol troopers say roads are back open near Columbus Boulevard and State Road 82, following a fatal car accident.

Troopers say at least one person is dead, but did not give anymore details. It happened at 11:15pm February, 18th, 2018.

**UPDATE (9:30AM)** -- Troopers have identified the victim in Sunday night's fatal crash in Lehigh Acres.

36-year-old Billy Ray Rose, Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. 

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Rose was driving a car with three passengers south on Columbus Boulevard, and failed to stop at the stop sign at State Road 82.  The car proceeded into the intersection and was hit on the left side by a westbound SUV.

Rose died at the scene.  One passenger, 37-year-old Isleidy Brito, was seriously injured.  Another passenger, 17-year-old Jasmine Rose, suffered minor injuries.  A third passenger was uninjured.

The driver of the SUV, 46-year-old Pamela Wise of North Fort Myers, sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
