NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A group in Southwest Florida is trying to stich the broken hearts of grieving families back together.

The group known as the Compassion Blanket Program has stitched and folded more than 1,700 blankets.

The blankets are prayed upon before they are handed to family members who are suffering the loss of a loved one.

The sewers say the compassion blanket program is a touching gesture during a tragic time.  “I can imagine somebody needing a blanket, like, how it would comfort them. How it would comfort their family knowing that there getting a little extra care, even if it just a blanket.”

If you would like to help make or donate to the Compassionate Blanket program, you can call Nancy Roberts, Lee Health manager parish nurse at 239-343-5182.
