LEHIGH ACRES, Fla., - Residents in a quiet Lee County neighborhood are on high alert after burglars targeted at least two cars in Lehigh Acres.

Lee County deputies are now investigating a series of break-ins along 24th street, just off Leonard Boulevard.

Deputies say the thieves got into a Toyota Tacoma and Dodge Avenger on 24th Street early Tuesday morning. A victim tells 4 In Your Corner her glove box was left opened and important documents scattered all over the place after she accidentally left her car door open the night before. But she says whoever went through her car didn't take anything.

Some neighbors say they've noticed people walking around the neighborhood late into the night but would never suspect anything like this could happen there.

"I'm just surprised because this is a nice neighborhood," said Martha Fonseca, a nearby resident.

The area has been hit several times over the last few months.

If you have any information on the recent burglaries, you can call the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
