Arrest made in fatal Port Charlotte crash

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- An arrest has been made in a deadly Port Charlotte crash that took place in October of 2016.

It happened October 8th on U.S. Route 41 at the intersection of Easy Street.  Florida Highway Patrol says a car driven by 18-year-old Kelsi Lanier of North Port crashed into the rear of another car that was stopped for the red light.

The three car collision left 19-year-old passenger Ashlyn Eaton dead.

Others involved in the crash were left with serious or minor injuries.

This weekend, Police arrested Lanier, who now faces charges of one count of DUI Manslaughter, three counts of DUI Serious Bodily Injury, three counts of DUI Injury to Another and three counts of DUI Property Damage.

Lanier also tested positive for a slew of drugs including Xanax, Carboxylic acid of Cocaine, Alpha-Hydroxy alprazolam, and Cannabinoids, according to FHP.

No further information has been released at this time.
