CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Some Cape Coral city council members are expected back Thursday from a trip to the capitol but some viewers are more concerned with what's on the bus.

City councilman Chris Leetz wants to know why alcohol was on board a trip to Tallahassee with city elected officials.

"Can't they wait eight hours without having an intoxicating beverage? Is that too much to ask?", said Leetz.

Other council members are in the state capitol meeting with legislators for a trip called "Lee County Days in Tallahassee."

Cape Coral taxpayers paid for their trip. Organizer Heather Mazurkiewicz says sponsors provided the drinks and refreshments, a total of 300 dollars for 25 passengers.

Thomas from Naples called Fox Four asking more questions.

"Who gives alcohol to our public officials? Who is paying for the sponsorship? What influence are they giving?", said Thomas.

Barbara from Englewood doesn't agree with booze on the bus and said, "No alcoholic beverages on trips to the capital. That is, n, o."

The conversation continues on our Facebook page.

Diane posted, "It's not a pleasure trip or a drunken weekend. They are going there to represent the taxpayers and should behave accordingly."

Mark said,  "Who cares? If it's not taxpayer $$$ and they aren't driving, big deal!

Lawrence added, "Let them have fun!!"

Dale wrote, "Depends how much they drink?"
