NAPLES Fla.-
Tonight, Naples native Lazaro Arbos found out he will advance to the top ten on American Idol.
With emotions running sky high, Lazaro's Pastor, Dave Gipson and his family were overcome with joy for their dear friend.
"they of course saved him for the last possible minute scared us all to death." Pastor Dave Gipson said.
Emily Gipson has been by his side from the start, taking Lazaro to his first audition in Chicago.
"I had no idea the effect he was going to have on people. People relate to him they understand what it's like to have a struggle." Emily Gipson said.
But, the family never thought he'd come so far.
"I was like yeah right there's so may talented and gifted people that's a one and a million chance." Pastor Dave Gipson said.
A one in a million chance that has brought Lazaro to the top ten.
"I want him to know that were incredibly proud of him regardless of what happens at this point he's already completely gone above and beyond what anyone could have expected for him and were cheering him on." Emily Gipson said.
