NAPLES - A crowd of about 40 people gathered to protest new proposals by President Barrack Obama concerning gun control in America.
"I come out to support my rights," said Josh Ostasiewcz.
Those who gathered at the corner of US 41 and Pine Ridge Road in Naples oppose any kind of new legislation that would restrict the use of firearms.
"In states that have gun control you'd have much higher crime rates, much higher violent crime rates," Jared Grifoni, Chairman
The demonstration was part of a nationwide rally to denounce the president's push on new restrictions.
"Congress should restore a ban on military-style assault weapons, and a 10-round limit for magazines," said the president, who reiterated the plan in his weekly radio address.
The move comes weeks after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT that left 26 people dead, most of them children.
