FORT MYERS - The early morning hours of December 15th behind an ice cream parlon on San Carlos Boulevard a Lee County Sheriff's Deputy shot and killed 48 year old Tommy Kollman during a traffic stop.  A nearby resident heard the shots and called 911.

The caller says, "Just sounded like gunfire by the Holiday Condo Park."

According to the incident report, Kollman was armed but it is unclear if shots were exchanged or what led to the shooting.  The 911 caller talks about what she heard.

"How many shots did you hear," asked the 911 dispatcher.   The caller says, "Three."

The Deputy wasn't hurt and has been put on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.  The Sheriff's office isn't commenting on specifics regarding the shooting.
