Threats involving North Port High School investigated

NORTH PORT, Fla. - The North Port Police Department and Lee County K-9 Units are investigating a possible threat at North Port High School.

According to the North Port Police Department, School Resource Officers at North Port High were contacted by a student about several threats posted on Facebook. One of those threats mentioned explosives at the school.

As a precaution, the high school has requested law enforcement check the school. North Port Police called for assistance, and Lee County sent three bomb sniffing K-9 units to sweep the school.

The school is not locked down or evacuated at this time.
