Lee County Deputy Involved in fatal shooting
FORT MYERS -- A Lee County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a fatal shooting early Saturday morning during a traffic stop.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says the deputy pulled over a Jeep Wrangler shortly after 3:30 a.m. Saturday at 16229 San Carlos Blvd. When the deputy approached the vehicle, the deputy encountered an armed occupant.
The Sheriff's Office says shots were fired and the driver was killed. It is unclear who fired the first shots. The deputy was not injured.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating the case. The names of the victim and deputy have not been released.
