COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Some Collier County commissioners want to get rid of red light cameras.
They were installed to prevent red-light running but some say they do more harm than good.
"I really think it's intrusive on our visitor. I think it catches them unaware. It's just not a friendly thing to have", said commissioner Tim Nance.
Two-time candidate for Sheriff, Vincent Angiolillo said, "They purposefully put them at intersections that are high volume so they can tax the general public."
Some Fox Four viewers think the cameras are a good thing.
"The only complaints come from the red light runners. I see the runners every day. Keep the cameras, said Ed from Naples.
Carl from Buckingham agrees and said, "The law applies to all of us no matter what part of the country you may be from and also to remember that driving is a privilege not a right."
Christine thinks differently and posted on our Facebook page, "I think its a way to rip off out of town drivers. It also illegally shifts the burden on the driver to have to prove it wasn't them driving."
Another viewer added, "Accident rates will go up at camera intersections."
