NAPLES - Graham Ginsberg says the Collier County School District contacted him about a change to how it does fundraising.
The father of three was upset over a flyer that which issued at Vineyard Elementary that offered students a homework pass if they helped out at a fundraiser at Chick-fil-A restaurant on Nov. 15th.
In addition to the event being held at a fast-food restaurant, Ginsberg did not like the idea of children being excused from doing homework.
He told In Your Corner that since our report aired, he received a phone call from the school officials that addressed the matter.
"Collier School district has decided that they don't want to do the homework passes anymore."
Ginsberg says he's not sure where fundraisers will be held in the future, but at least the kids won't get a free pass. "I'm pleased that the Collier County school district has decided to do that,' he said.”The school district mentioned that they're going to be holding some kind of a discussion about wellness. What they call a wellness policy."
For its part, the district does have wellness programs. On Wednesday, some 300 kids finished what was called the "Whole Foods Market - Kids On The Go!," which involved students running 26-miles.
