Christmas tree lighting in downtown Naples
NAPLES - Fifth Avenue South hosted the 38th Annual Christmas Walk & Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday evening.
The evening commenced with a performance by the ReCreation Tappers on the Sugden Plaza at 5:00 p.m., followed by a performance by Poinciana Elementary School.
After the introductions were complete, City of Naples Mayor John Sorey flipped the switch on the Christmas tree.
"It is a beautiful event and I think it was well prepared and the kids like Santa Claus so this is what we were expecting from it," said Lubormir Silhavy.
Children also got a chance to tell Santa Clause what they wanted for Christmas and take a picture with him.
Restaurants, shops, and businesses along Fifth Avenue South and adjoining streets were also open for shopping, dining, and holiday cheer.
