NAPLES - A concerned resident continues his fight to stop the City of Naples from putting fluoride in the drinking water.
David Bolduc asked the city council on Wednesday to reconsider an April decision not to ban the use of the chemical in the drinking water.
The chemical has been used in water supplies across the nation since the 1960s.
Medical professionals say it helps prevent tooth decay in children in poor communities that are not exposed to brushing their teen of a regular basis.
"Think about reallocating the dollars we provide to water fluoridation, which is scientifically proven not to work and allocate it toward providing toothpaste underprivileged children, which is scientifically proven to work," said Bolduc after Wednesday's meeting.
Bolduc wants the city council to consider removing fluoride from drinking water again next April.
It is not yet clear how the city council will respond to his request.
