LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Election night November 6th, long lines, frustrated voters, and lots of frustrated poll workers.  And then, this tearful apology the day after the polls closed from Lee County Supervisor of Elections Sharon Harrington.

"I'll make sure it doesn't happen again,"said Harrington the day after election day.

This week,  Harrington sent out 50 dollar bonus checks to 1500 poll workers - it amounts to about 75,000 dollars of your money.

"I'm hoping it encourages them to stay on board," said Harrington.

Harrington was blamed for a lack of ballot scanners on election night and there were call for her resignation.  She says poll workers bore the brunt of that frustration.

"They were the ones in the firing line getting the heat," said Harrington.

Lee County Commissioner Frank Mann says he considers the bonuses to be awkward considering 2500 county workers haven't had a raise or a bonus in five years.
