FORT MYERS, Fla. - A scattered mess of debris at the Cocunut Palms mobile home park in North Fort Myers.  At first glance, it looks like a hurricane passed through.

What's left of several mobile homes lays on the ground. They were torn down by the mobile home park owners.  Residents are concerned.

"I'm worried about the safety for my kids," said one resident.

The owners tore the mobile home down in early November because they were vacant and in disrepair.  But the mess has caused problems for residents like Janice Mangeri who stepped on a nail walking her dog.

"It went thru here somewhere," said Mangeri.

But the mess has been here for weeks.  So we tried to get some answers, first talking to the mobile home park's property manager.

And within minutes of talking to that property manager  the owners of the mobile home park showed up on scene.  They said the reason why all this stuff has been left here is because of a state order.

According to the DEP they ordered the cleanup to stop in early November because of a possible asbestos problem.  A small amount was found and taken away clearing the way for cleanup to resume Monday morning.
