Cyber Monday online safety tips
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Click, click, click. It's not the sound of reindeer of the roof just yet but online shoppers taking advantage of those Cyber Monday deals.
According to online security experts there are a few things you should know before bargain hunting on the world wide web.
For starters, be sure the website you're shopping on starts with "https://". This means the connection between you and the site is secure.
Next, stick to using just one credit card. A credit card gives you added protection against unauthorized charges versus debit cards.
Also, be careful when pressing the "like" button. Like-ing a page on Facebook gives the owner of the page full access to your facebook profile.
Beware of emails claiming to be shipping notifications from USPS, UPS, FEDEX, or eBay. With so many people shopping online, hackers like to send notification emails from popular companies.
Finally, be sure your computer is running the most up to date anti-virus program.
