NAPLES, Fla.--- Five residents who live in Goodland were award $1.6 million dollars in a lawsuit filed against a man they call a nightmare neighbor.
"He says take me for a ride on your boat you'll never come back," said Leo Popour.
Popour was among the neighbors that will receive a portion of the money that was awarded by a jury last week.
The Popours say the neighborhood feud began several years ago while installing a concrete slap for their boat on their own property - right next to their home.
"He went nuts (saying) I'm going to beat you up, throw you in the canal," said Leo Popour.
Other neighbors got dragged into the feud when they sided with the Popours over Karnes.
"Reporter: What did he says his beef was with you? Jay McMillen: It started out that I was helping him."
They filed restraining orders, but say that did not work so they filed a lawsuit.
Fox 4 went to Karnes home to get his side of the story, but he did not want to talk to us today.
"But just to be clear I'm not denying any future correspondence," said Richard Karnes.
Neighbors we talked to don't think they will ever see a dime of the money, but say the lawsuit was more about making a point.
"Friends and people and co-works and everything will understand what we were going through," said McMillen.
