New crisis unit to open at David Lawrence Center
NAPLES - The David Lawrence Center unveiled a sparkling new facility on Thursday in Naples.
"This has been a journey for us that started over 5 years ago when we realized that our community needed an expanded crisis stabilization union," said a representative for the organization.
Workers put the finishing touches on the new $5-million Crisis Stabilization Unit, a 16,000 square foot, 36 bed facility that will be able to accommodate more patients.
The new space will allow the organization to serve more people -- and has a brand new wing for children who deal with mental and behavioral issues.
The David Lawrence Center expects to hire at additional ten people to help staff the new wing.
Money to build the new facility along Bathey Lane was a mix of grants and private donations.
David Lawrence Center is a community mental health center that provides mental health and substance abuse services.
