LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Discussions continuing today by Lee County Commissioners whether to privatize the county's medical helicopter service or to restart the program that was shut down back in August due to mismanagement.

Commissioners are looking at 3 options.  The first would be for the county to restart the Medstar program, the second option would be to privatize the operation, and the third would be a private public partnership.  Commissioners today heard details about all 3 options.  The FAA may still fine the county for improper billing which led the county to shutdown the program.  We talked to former Medstar employees today who are supporting restarting Medstar.

"I'm a supporter of the county run model I will that I used to work for a private service I want to focus on patient care, not patient bills," said Dan Ceresa, former Medstar paramedic.

County Commissioners will decide which course of action to take with Medstar at Tuesday morning's meeting.
