LEE COUNTY - A picture received in our Fox 4 email in box it shows a Lee County Sheriff's deputy holding something to his mouth and pumping gas. It was taken by someone with an iPhone and sent to us. But what is he holding to his mouth at the pumps?
"What's this like a trick or something," said one resident after we showed him the picture.
We asked another opinion.
"What's he doing?" asked Fox 4 Reporter John Rupolo.
"I can't really tell he's pumping gas and he's talking on the phone," said one resident.
But one area resident was convinced.
"He's smoking," said one resident.
In this age of picture phones, facebook, twitter, and surveillance cameras anybody especially those in the public eye are vulnerable to being caught on camera when they least expect it.
Lets be perfectly clear, we are not insinuating that the deputy ins in fact smoking at a gas pump is actually to hard to tell but we did send this picture to the sheriff's office for their reaction.
"The picture doesn't really depict exactly what he may be holding. He could be holding a toothpick for all we know," said Larry King of the Sheriff's Office.
"Did you ask him?", asked Fox 4 Reporter John Rupolo.
"He's a non smoker," said Larry King of the Sheriff's Office.
In fact, the sheriff's office tells us they get dozens of pictures and emails similar to this one. They say they do investigate depending on what they receive.
