Record early voter turnout in Collier County
NAPLES - The Collier CO. Supervisor of Elections Office reports that a record number of voters have turned out to cast their ballots early this season.
"I guess the only thing that is going to be interesting is what's going to be happening like Thursday, Friday and Saturday...those last three days of early voting might be really intense," said Deputy Chief Tim Durham.
According to numbers complied by the office, 6,569 people voted on Tuesday, far more than the 3,838 that came out on the same day during the 2008 election.
Last Saturday, the first day of early voting, 6387 voted, nearly doubling the number of the Day 1 of early voting during 2008.
Election officials say it was the single best day for early voting in Collier County ever.
