Youth football league fundraiser for lightning strike victim
LEHIGH ACRES -- Southwest Florida continues to remember the young football player who was killed after being struck by lightning.
The Lehigh Acres Football Association held a fundraiser during its final football game on the season.
Members of the Lehigh "Raiders" football team wore purple stickers on their helmets to remember the Jesse Watlington.
Family members of the players were encouraged to donated money that will be given to the Watlington family.
"When we heard that happen it was kind of touch everybody in an emotional way. So we figure the best thing we could do it give back to him (to) try to help out his family," said Tim Shannon of the Lehigh Acres Football Association.
Funds collected from the Oct. 20th game will be donated to the Watlington family.
