Naples - A warning is going out to voters in Collier County after fake letters end up in the mailboxes of voters.

The letters question the citizenship of legitimate voters and claims the may not be eligible to cast ballots in the Nov. 6th elections.

The letters look very similar to those sent out by the Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office over the last few months.

The real letters were sent out to reported non-citizens who were registered to vote. It ask them to verify citizenship before being eligible to vote this year.

But the fake letter has been sent to 5 registered republicans, who have solid voting records.

It also states that if they vote, they could be faced with criminal charges and just come to the elections office and present proof.

The Collier County Supervisor of Elections office says if you receive a letter and are a registered voter, contact them right away or visit their offices at 3295 Tamiami Trail E.
