Second Lee Co. official resigns amid MedStar scandal
FT. MYERS - Another Lee Co. official has left her post following the MedStar scandal and after a reported temporary shutdown of the service.
EMS administration Kim Dickerson retired from her job on Friday, according to a notification from Deputy Chief Scott Tuttle on Friday, which wished her well.
This comes weeks after a county manager report said top EMS administrators knew about personnel problems within MedStar, but never reported it to county administrators.
“Unfortunately you see all of the perpetrators of this fiasco are all going to be on paid retirement,” said former MedStar pilot Arnold “Mac” MacAllister.
The news comes a week after public safety director John Wilson also retired.
MedStar shut down back in August without any notice - at the time, Wilson and Dickerson said they were looking to apply for national accreditation.
In September, Lee Co. commissioners learned that MedStar improperly billed patients without the proper FAA accreditation.
