Isaac will approach Southwest Florida Sunday
2am Update-Isaac continues to move toward Southwest Florida with winds at 70 mph, moving Northwest at 13 mph. Isaac is about 790 miles away from Marco Island.
Isaac will spend much of Saturday close to, or over Cuba, keeping any strengthening at a minimum. The concern for Southwest Florida will be on Sunday, when the storm emerges back over warm waters, and may intensify fairly quickly, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Isaac is forecast to be very close to Southwest Florida as a strong Tropical Storm or Hurricane Sunday night and Monday, as strong wind gusts and heavy rains will be likely. Tides will also be higher than normal, but storm surge should not be a major concern, due to mainly easterly winds.
