Illegal campaign signs In Charlotte County
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - A rented dumpster behind Charlotte County Code is filled with campaign signs for a reason.
Code officials have been plucking them up everywhere where they shouldn't be placed on public property.
"We have complaints," said Code Officer Shaun Cullinan.
The code office has been innundated with complaints from residents and even candidates. Many signs are being place on what's being called the right of way and that is against the law.
The right of way can simply be defined as the area adjacent to the roadway off of private property.
"A general rule of thumb is the back of a utility pole is about where the private property starts," said Cullinan.
