Romney Picks Ryan as Running Mate
NORFOLK, Va. -- Mitt Romney has ended months of speculation and picked Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan to be his Republican Party running mate.
Romney announced the selection just after 7 a.m. Saturday through a mobile app, then formally introduced Ryan as his running mate later in the morning at a campaign stop aboard the U.S.S. Wisconsin in Norfolk, Va.
Ryan, 42, is chairman of the House Budget Committee. He's served in Washington since 1999. Ryan visited Southwest Florida in July to campaign for Chauncey Goss, who is seeking a seat in Congress. Goss is in a tight Republican Primary Tuesday.
Romney's announcement comes nearly two weeks before the start of the Republican Convention in Tampa.
