More Money For Top District Administrators?
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lee County School District school board member Jane Kuckel once again on the attack criticizing Superintendent Dr. Joseph Burke after he released his new organizational chart for the District.
"There's a lack of planning," said Kuckel.
Burke plans on bringing in a new leadership approach to the District giving more authority to seven positions. This will raise salaries of these positions and the cost to taxpayers according to Kuckel could be over 500,000 dollars when all is said and done.
"Its an expensive proposition I dont think now is the time to do it,' said Kuckel.
Kuckel is questioning the timing of Burke's initiatives. The District is facing a 15 million dollar deficit and is set to lay off on staff member at every building and furlough workers.
Kuckel says Burke should have briefed each individual board member on his plans before bringing it to a public board meeting for a vote.
