LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Deedra Hicks.  Superintendent Dr. Joseph Burke hired her as the director of secondary operations last summer.  Just 5 months into the job, the district began investigating Hicks.  We asked Burke why back in February.

"The investigation was suspended," said Burke.

But it wasn't suspended. And months after that investigation began we still dont know what it involves. We have been trying for months to get you answers - emailing and calling the school district for updates.

The latest response from the district is,

"We are going over certain procedural situations before we release any further information," said Joe Donzelli, Lee County school district spokesman.

So, is it normal that a highly paid top school district employee who has been on the job for less than year be the subject of a multi-month investigation.  We asked teacher union president Donna Mutzenard.

"yes, it is unusual," said Mutzenard.

Here's what we know.  Hicks is a former collegue of Burke from another school district and was hired by him last July.  Four months later she was bumped up to the top pay scale.  In February we asked Burke why.

"Because I didn't do the sheet right," said Burke.

Hicks remains on the job while the investigation continues.
