CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - 6 events November through July.  800 acres of mud and revving engines. But there have been problems.

"The club is out of control,' said Charlotte County Commissioner Bob Starr.

Charlotte County Commissioner Bob Starr says for the past two years he has been hearing of underage drinking, fights, traffic problems, and whats worse accidents.

In the past 14 months according to Charlotte County officials they have responded over 200 times with EMS and law enforcement.

"Our EMS director says that they have had more calls out there than they do anywhere else in the country when they have an event,' said Starr.

So Starr would like to see some changes.

"Maybe charge for the Sheriff's office services, charge for ems,' said Starr.

The yacht club pays a minimal fee for EMS services because they are zoned agricultural.

"Well the club is also paying to have their services on site. Should we beef them up? Maybe," said Paul King of the club.

But because the club is on private property the county cannot shut them down.

"Its up to the people operating the club to enforce rules," said Starr.
