Arrest Made in Punta Gorda Road Rage Stabbing Incident
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - A Port Charlotte man is in custody accused of stabbing a bicyclist Friday afternoon after an apparent road rage incident.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office says Armando Gomez, 19, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Deputies were called to 2739 Taylor Road where a man was lying in a driveway bleeding from several stab wounds. The 24-year-old victim from Punta Gorda told deputies a green car pulled up behind him and that he exchanged words with the driver, who then got out of the car and started stabbing him with a knife in the head and chest.
Investigators found Gomez and his vehicle parked in the CVS parking lot at U.S. 41 and Airport Road in Punta Gorda. They found a bloody knife inside the vehicle. Gomez was taken into custody after he came back to the vehicle.
He remains in custody at the Charlotte County Jail.
