LEE COUNTY -  Dr. Deedra Hicks is the subject of a school district investigation.  We wanted to know why.

The school district sending us an email which reads "the investigation is exempt from public disclosure as that investigation is ongoing."  But last week we asked Burke the same question.

"Are you aware she is under investigation by the school district?" asked Fox 4 Reporter John Rupolo.

"No, I think there was an investigation that was suspended," said Burke.

But it never was suspended.  Hicks was mentioned in school board member Jane Kuckel's letter to the board alleging Burke played favorites by giving Hicks, a former collegue he worked with in another school district, two pay raises in 3 and a half months time and allowed her to transfer sick days.  She was hired in July overseeing school principals. Kuckel's letter led to a school board fight and a motion to investigate Burke that was voted down.

"I've got the floor excuse me, But you look a little nervous is there something you'd like to tell us," said Don Armstrong of the Lee County School Board.

What we still don't know is why Hicks remains under investigation or even when the investigation started.  An anonomous letter however sent to the school district and our newsroom indicated possible wrongdoing on the part of Hicks.  What we do know is even though she has worked for the school district for seven months she has already  taken several sick days, according to Kuckel's letter.  In December alone, Hicks used 48 hours of sick leave.

We requested her personnel file and it doesn't indicate any wrongdoing on her part or that she's under investigation.
