Punta Gorda baby in freezer follow-up
PUNTA GORDA - Neighbors still in shock just days after the body and infant was found inside a freezer in this Punta Gorda home. Police getting a tip after the woman who lived there, 27 year old Jessica Smallwood, showed up at a nearby hospital Sunday night with heavy bleeding.
"Were they quiet folks," asked Fox 4 Reporter John Rupolo.
"Never heard a peep," said one neighbor.
Smallwood is a teachers' aide at Peace River Elementary and is the mother of 3 children. DCF taking custody of those kids after the discovery in her freezer. Signs on the front door have been posted telling reporters to leave and while we were talking to neighbors a car pulled into the driveway.
But it backed out once they saw Fox 4 Reporter John Rupolo and News Photographer Dave Turner. Neighbors still looking for answers.
"Its still shocking," said one neighbor.
So far, Smallwood hasn't been arrested and faces no charges.
