Irene triggers travel troubles at Southwest Florida International airport
LEE COUNTY - Hurricane Irene is causing delays and even cancellations at Southwest Florida International airport. Fights to several cities along the east coast been canceled, including to Newark, N.J., White Plains, N.Y., Atlantic City and Baltimore.
Fox 4 caught up with travelers who made arrangements to get back home before flights are completely cut off to the northeast this weekend. "We are leaving early… we were supposed to leave on Sunday, but because of the storm, everything is getting canceled” said Brian Richards, who is heading back home to Boston after vacationing with his family in Southwest Florida.
Two JetBlue passengers told Fox 4 that their flight to New York City got cancelled tonight.
One woman told us her flight was rescheduled to Thursday.
JetBlue told us that it will not charge customers who have to reschedule their trips because of Hurricane Irene.
