Mymose Jean hangs laundry out at her Fort Myers home. She is trying to live the american dream.  She immigrated here in 1996 with her family from Haiti.

She says she paid Miami lawyer Margaret Blot 2500 dollars to submit citizenship paperwork to the US immigrations and customs service.  She showed us the receipts and even the signed contract but that was back in April.

"She took everything.  I filled out the appliation and she said she was going to mail but never did," said Jean.

Jean said she checked with immigration and they never received her paperwork so she picked up the phone.

"I called everyday and she never returns my calls," said Jean.

So we tried to call the Miami lawyer ourselves and we got a recording and left a message. But our call was never returned.  Jean told us she filed a complaint with the Florida bar so we gave them a call to follow up.

They sent us a statement saying in part, "when the case is closed our information becomes public record." But the Haitian native is still looking for answers, her money back, and a chance to become a US citizen.
