Lee County Special Olympics team practices for standup paddle board races

The Lee County Special Olympics standup paddle board (SUP) team is practicing for Battle on the Blueway coming up on Saturday, June 9th, to raise money for Lee County Special Olympics.

The team practices are Thursday mornings on Bunche Beach. After Battle on the Blueway, the team will gear up for regional and state competitions.

This is the 4th annual Battle on the Blueway, and it's open to all racers. It includes a 7 mile race, a 2 mile race, a kids' and Special Olympics race. It's a family oriented event with a festival atmosphere, including vendors and non-profit displays of history and artifacts from our area. Pre-registration is required for all racers. There will not be a chance to register the day of the event. Entries are $45 to $55 and after June 5th, entry fees increase by $10. To register, click here.

The race is located at Crescent Beach Family Park, 1100 Estero Boulevard on Fort Myers Beach. The event includes competitive events for (SUPS), as well as kayaks, outrigger canoes and surf skiis.
