Fox 4 anchors Emily Dishnow and Patrick Nolan emcee cancer benefit
Fundraiser for American Cancer Society in Fort Myers Beach
FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. - Residents of Fort Myers Beach joined forces last night to help in the fight against cancer.
Fox 4 anchors Emily Dishnow and Patrick Nolan were, once again, the emcees for a special benefit organized by a dedicated volunteer committee led by Emily's mother-in-law, Kathy Dishnow.
The fundraiser - held at Wyndham Gardens Hotel on the beach - benefited the American Cancer Society.
Emily and Patrick had some fun with the festive crowd as they auctioned off some beautiful items ranging from oil paintings, to floral arrangements, to hand-painted TV tables.
Also among the auction items were a cruise donated by the Swanbecks, rounds of golf and a gift certificate for local jewelry designer, Mark Loren.
The young man who won the Loren gift certificate said he would use it to buy his girlfriend an engagement ring.
"You can use these as you watch Fox 4 News," Emily told the crowd with a giggle.
Kathy Dishnow, mother of Emily's husband Ryan Dishnow, has been putting on the benefit for years - relying on support from her friends on the beach and her realty office, VIP.
