Another arrest in Lee County deputy involved shooting

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Lee County Sheriff's Office announced another arrest in a deputy involved shooting that happened early Sunday in Fort Myers.

The man accused of trying to run deputies over, 27-year-old Joshua Young, has been charged with aggravated battery on law enforcement officer, aggravated assault on law enforcement officer, grand theft auto, flee and elude and hit and run while Driving with a suspended license.

The incident happened just after 3 a.m. Sunday at the Pilot Travel Plaza on Plaza Drive just off I-75.

Deputies were checking out a possible stolen vehicle at one of the pumps.  As deputies tried to initiate contact, the driver rammed two squad cars and attempted to run over deputies in an attempt to get away.

Deputies opened fire on the Young, who was struck once. But he continued to drive away at a high rate of speed.  A short distance later, he crashed into a parked truck and ran from the vehicle.
