FORT MYERS, Fla. - Some Southwest Floridians who serve you quietly behind the scenes got some very public recognition Friday.

Members of Lee county's Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and Friendship Centers were honored in an annual award ceremony.

Fox 4 anchor Patrick Nolan was the emcee again this year.

The awards ceremony was held at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater in Fort Myers.

Last year, RSVP volunteers served 69,449 hours at 20 locations.

That's equivalent to $1,537,600 worth of free service provided to county.
