Trio of Fort Myers bank robbers sought by Crime Stoppers
FORT MYERS, Fla. - A trio of brazen bank robbers has eluded capture for nearly two months. Now Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking the public's help to bring the three who held up a Fort Myers Fifth Third bank to justice.
Surveillance video captured the frightening scene of the three men storming into the bank, located at 2068 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, shortly after 9 a.m. on Monday, December 23rd.
Each suspect was armed, wore gloves and masks, with two of them vaulting the counter, knocking over computers and screens, while the third ordered customers to the ground at gunpoint.
The two men behind the counter quickly rifled through all the cash drawers, while tellers hid underneath the counter, as the third suspect kept watch. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the till, along with bank dye packs.
The men quickly sped off in a white Kia, which was driven by a fourth unidentified black male. The dye packs discharged in the car, which was later found abandoned in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 2150 Illinois Ave., Fort Myers.
Although the robbers all donned masks during the heist, surveillance video and stills do show some facial features. Anyone with any information on the identity and the whereabouts of the suspects are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
