Sullivan considers option after Cape Mayoral court challenge fails
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Cape Coral Mayor Marni Sawicki scored a major victory in her ongoing legal battle with former Mayor John Sullivan.
Judge Alane Laboda ruled that there will be no recount or re-vote for last November's Cape Coral mayoral race that saw Sawicki win by a razor thin margin.
Sawicki celebrated the court ruling Thursday night at Dixie Roadhouse.
Sullivan told 4 in Your Corner that he plans to speak with his attorney and other advisors about his next move. He didn't rule out another legal challenge.
The judge also ruled that Sullivan must pay Sawicki's legal costs. The bill totals tens of thousands of dollars.
Sullivan's legal team had questioned the make up the canvassing board and alleged that not all of the votes had been accounted for at the time of the election.
