Stolen Port Charlotte tractor truck recovered
NORTH PORT, Fla. - A Kenworth track stolen Monday morning from Port Charlotte was recovered Wednesday by North Port police.
Shortly after 1:00 pm Charlotte County deputies met with members of the North Port PD in an area off of Orlando Blvd. north of Veteran’s Blvd. after someone reported a maroon semi-truck parked in that area.
A check of the tag and vehicle identification number confirmed that it was the same 2003 Kenworth tractor reported stolen from the area of US 41 and Como Street Monday morning.
The truck was not damaged except for a broken passenger side window. There was some property missing from inside the cab.
The refrigerated 43 foot trailer that had been attached to the Kenworth tractor when it was stolen was recovered Tuesday afternoon.
A second stolen trailer, a 53 foot long Fontaine hydraulic low-boy flat-bed trailer, is still missing. That trailer was also reported stolen on Monday October 14. It had been parked in a fenced-in area in the Murdock Industrial Park on Enterprise Drive. Based on surveillance video from that location, deputies investigating both cases suspect that the stolen Kenworth truck was used to tow away the stolen Fontaine low-boy trailer.
Anyone with information concerning the theft of the truck or either trailer is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
