Spring training begins in SWFL
FORT MYERS – For baseball fans the long-awaited moment is almost here!
The fresh sound of popping mitts Monday as hopeful Twins pitchers and catchers reported to Hammond Stadium to open up spring training.
The Twins are hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2013 season, ut that didn't stop the die-hards from showing up in full force to voice their support today.
The first home game at Hammond Stadium is March 1 against the Boston Red Sox. The Twins will host 16 games total this spring.
The Red Sox are hosting a spring training open house this Saturday at JetBlue Park.
The free event will take place from 11-3 p.m. at the park located on Fenway South Drive near Daniels Parkway.
Fans will have an opportunity to walk freely around the park while enjoying games, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, pictures with the World Series trophies and player autographs. And if you want to help Southwest Florida with their blood drive, a bloodmobile will also be on site.
